Martha Helen Parker Greene of Prattville, AL, age 85, a Christian woman, a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and sister went home to Heaven on September 27, 2021, after an extended illness. She passed to Glory into her Lord and Savior’s arms with her family around her thanking the Lord for her victory. Martha Helen was born in Ramer, AL on February 11, 1936.
Her celebration of life will be Sunday, October 3, 2021, in the Leak-Memory Chapel at 2:30 with a visitation an hour prior. A graveside interment at Greenwood Cemetery is set following service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee Parker and Emmie Christine Andrews Parker, her brother, Willie Paul Parker, her nephew, Terry Anthony Hall and her brother-in-law, Pastor Bill Hall. She is survived by her children, Pamela Greene Cloud, Charles Jeffrey Greene, Mark Steven Greene, and Erica Renee Wright Greene; her grandchildren, Cameron Andrew Cloud, Kaitlyn Kristine Greene, and William Ward Greene; her sister, Dorothy Lucille Parker Hall, and Martha Helen’s lifelong, loving companion, L. C. Greene. Also, many loved nieces and nephews.
Helen was a full-time stay-at-home mother most of her life because she truly knew that was her most important job. She attended Massey-Draughon Business College and worked at Zales Jewelers in Normandale Shopping Center for about three years in the mid-1960s. Later in life, she worked for Greenwood Cemetery helping families make final arrangements for loved ones. When her children were grown, she enjoyed singing and preforming with the Sweet Adelines International in Montgomery, AL. It was wonderful to see our mother’s happiness in this endeavor. Mother’s legacy will always be her love and support for her children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family members.
Pastor Neil Epler, Frazer United Methodist Church, will preside over our mother’s service.
Mother’s pallbearers will be her sons, Charles and Mark, her grandson’s Cameron and William, and her nephews Parker and Andrew.
The family would like to extend an appreciation to Kindred Hospice for the kindness shown our mother.
Flowers can be sent to Leak Memory Chapel. Your kind donations of Helen’s supported charity can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or https://www.stjude.org/ The family thanks you for this considered donation.
