Helen graduated from Troy State University in 1975 as a Registered Nurse. After her nursing career, she worked at Dillard’s as a sales associate. She was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church and later in life attended First Baptist Church.
In her spare time, Helen enjoyed watching TV and reading books. She loved to watch Andy Griffith and read biographies. She also enjoyed going out for a meal, cats, and flowers.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Erin Bernard and her brother, Charles Bernard.
She is survived by her husband of 16 glorious years, Jim Steindorff; her brother, Butch Bernard; and her sister, Erin Shoney.
A visitation for Helen will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama, 36109. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 PM.
