So many years Dr Lyons and you were family to us in Selma. So many memories. 
Dear Sara Jane, I remember being 5 yr of age hearing Dr Henry Lyons preaching in Selma standing next to my parents and hearing Gods voice reaching out to me. My parents told me I was too young to know about Heaven or God. I waited two yrs. then one morning after the sermon during the benediction I heard God say it’s time. I let go of my dads hand and walked out of the pew and down the aisle. I stood before dear Dr Lyons. When I looked up he was grinning so big :) he talked with me and twirled me to face the congregation. Then later for baptism he had a block in the pool I swam to because I was so little. Lol 
You both meant the world to me. Your teachings, your devotion and love. I love you all. As Dr Lyons has crossed through the veil I feel pride and joy to have called him my teacher, to have witnessed his life and I cherish his memory. Only tears of happiness his journey is just continuing beyond the veil. With Mr Atherton and all the other saints he knows.

Dear Sara Jane and Family,  So sorry to hear of your loss. Dr Lyon was truly a man of God. He made a everlasting impression on so many . Lynn and I are included in the many. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My sincere condolences to Dr Lyons Family.  I did not know Dr Lyon Personally, but I knew his Father when he was Minister of Highland Avenue Baptist Church.  He and I were members of The Montgomery Exchange Club.  And I remember Dr Lyon as having a good since of humor and a fast response to any remark made to him.  The Associate Minister of The First Methodist Church (my Church,  and I cannot remember his name) was also a member of The Club and he also had a good since of humor and a fast response to any remark made to or of him.  We always tried to get them going after each other and they always had good responses -- and a lot of laughs.

While saddened to hear of Dr. Henry Lyon, I rejoice in knowing he is in the presence of the Lord.  I met Dr. Lyon the first week after moving to Selma, coming straight from college and a wonderful hometown and college church and fellowship.  My childhood pastor knew me well enough to make sure I met his friend Henry  Lyon.  What a blessing that began!  
I sometimes stayed with Jane and David  while the Lyons were out of town, watched them grown up, had fun youth trips as a leader, and was blessed by the love and leadership from the Lyons while they were at FBC in Selma.  Henry and his wonderful wife had such a powerful influence on my life and I will be eternally grateful.

I counted it a privilege to have served on the staff at Selma First Baptist Church with Henry for five years (1969-1974). Henry and I would fish for bass on the Alabama River and other lakes,  when we could arrange some time off from work; but the most memorable moments we spent together were when we went hunting for phone insulators all over central Alabama. I'm sure some of his "tales" were recalling funny things which happened during these events. We remained the best of friends  since those days. My sincere  condolence goes to Sara Jane and all of his family. Surely heaven is a little more funny and sweeter with Henry being there today. Until then , farewell dear friend! F. We were privileged to visit with Henry and Sara Jane a few weeks ago and that was a joy.
       Sara Jane and I were roommates back in New Orleans school days st which time I, Leona, met Henry.  Later I was privileged to be in their wedding.
After George and I married we all continued  our friendship which will continue into eternity.

I always enjoyed being around Henry, especially during times that he would share stories of his life and ministry (and hunting/fishing). I count it a real joy and honor to have known him.  My thoughts are with his sweet wife and family. “Well done, faithful servant”. 

Sara Jane and family,
I will always treasure Henry and his stories. We had good times riding together  to deacon conferences. I especially remember going to Luverne with him and getting to fellowship in the car about hunting and churches. I appreciate how he helped a young pastor in his first full time church while he was on staff at the state board.. Heavens gain is our loss. Prayers for you all in the days ahead. 

Favorite memory among so many is sitting around tables at Shirey Lodge with faculty for Senior Adult Retreat and Henry telling stories. We would ask for the same ones to introduce new faculty to his great storytelling. We heard some great tales from Henry, Debbie And Tim Childers, Mickey Dalrymple, Ronnie McCarson and Beth Chapman along  with a host of others.  
I’m sure Henry is sharing some great stories with family and friends who were waiting for him in heaven. 

We are saddened at Henry’s death, but we know he is with The Lord.   Henry was a wonderful man and a wonderful preacher!   When he came face to face with God, I know he heard “well done thy good and faithful servant”.    Henry will be missed by all who knew and loved him!   We Love the Lyon family and our thoughts and prayers are with them.
