

SUDDATH, Henry Wooldridge, age 92, a resident of Montgomery died on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel on January 19 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Warren Culver officiating. Mr. Suddath was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Hill Suddath and Mamie Meaders Suddath, a daughter, Linda Sue, a brother and three sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sue Tatum Suddath, and two sons, David Anderson Suddath, Sr. (Maye) and Henry Douglas Suddath (Peggy), three grandchildren, Virginia Maye Suddath, David Anderson Suddath, Jr. (Sarah), and Cassie Suddath Leary, and four great-grandchildren, Luke William Suddath, Peyton Leigh Suddath, Alanna Noel Leary and John Joseph Leary, and many nieces and nephews. Henry was born in Columbus, Georgia, but lived most of his life in Alabama. He was a veteran of World War II and after marrying in 1945, he settled in Montgomery where he worked for the Veterans Administration and the State of Alabama as an accountant. In 1951 he began his career with Montgomery County and served as County Administrator from 1951-1981. He served as a member of the Montgomery County Department of Human Resources Board of Directors for 36 years. He was recognized for his work with the Alabama Regional Medical Program and served as chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Pensions and Securities. He was a past president of the Dixie Lions Club and served on numerous advisory boards. Henry was a member of Capitol Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and was on the Board of Directors of Capitol Heights Place. In addition to his work for Montgomery County, he owned the Suddath Tax Service and prepared income tax returns for clients until his 89th year. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service and interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Pallbearers will be David Suddath, Jr, Daniel Faile, Andrue Ham, Frank Sanders, Allen Stone, and Fred Large. Honorary pallbearers will be the Capitol Heights Baptist Church deacons. Memorials may be made to Capitol Heights Baptist Church.
