The Scripture says: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, Ecclesiastes 1:1-2. Hiroko Ishida Martin went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 22, 2012, after an extended illness. She was born in Toyama, Japan. She married her husband Ray at Sapporo, Japan, becoming a proud and supportive U.S. Air Force wife in June 1960. She came to the United States in 1963 adopting the ways of her new country proudly becoming a U. S. citizen. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the “sweetest”, always willing to help anyone out, with a smile and hug. She was an active member of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class. Her favorite ministry at Frazer was to ring the bell for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season. She was avid bowler, cook, gardener, traveler and loving "Nano" to her grandchildren. Most of all she loved to play pinochle with her family and friends. She enjoyed the love and company of all her dear friends. Her celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama, with Rev. Dr. Tim Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., in the church parlor prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Alabama Heritage Cemetery, Montgomery. She is survived by her husband Ray Martin, of 52 years, daughters Lorie (Jeff) Britt, Swansea, Illinois, and Jo-Ann (Gregory) Holston, Montgomery, Alabama; son William (Mary Jean) Martin, Dazell, South Carolina; grandchildren David (Jordan) Britt, Seattle, Washington; Sarah Britt, and Daniel Britt, Swansea Illinois; Jacob Holston, and Emily Holston, Montgomery, Alabama; Adrian Martin, and Shannon Martin, Dazell, South Carolina. Pallbearers are Jerry Evelan, Kirk Golden, Ray Haner, Jesse Miles, Tom Parker, and Marvin Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are the Agape Sunday School Class and their bowling leagues. The family would like express heart felt gratitude and thanks to Southern Care Hospice, Montgomery, Alabama, for their loving care during Hiroko’s illness. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to “In Christ Way Ministries” at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church or Southern Care Hospice.
