

Hugh Oliver Bryant, 89, a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama died peacefully at his home after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin Lewis Bryant and Ollie Vera Bryant, his son Mitchell Hugh Bryant, his sister Winnie Jane Downs, his brother Lewis Edwin Bryant and his granddaughter Rachel Nicole Lee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara Lindsey Bryant. He was born in Notasulga, Alabama and graduated from Notasulga High School. He graduated in 1988 from Troy State University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Business after putting his three children through college to earn their bachelor’s degrees.
He proudly served his country for 20 years after being drafted in the Army in 1956. He served two years in the Army followed by the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves. He retired honorably as a Major in the Air Force Reserves. He also retired from the State of Alabama Public Accounts Department where he was an auditor.
He was a longtime member of Perry Hill Methodist Church. He loved his family, the Lord and his country. He was a true American that took pride in our country. He was the most loving and kind person you could ever meet.
He is survived by his children Brenda Bryant Lee and Jan Bryant Moore. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tommy Moore, Andy Moore, Kelli Sokol (Richard), and Alycia Lee, and great grandchildren Justin Sokol and Ariel Sokol.
A Celebration of Life Service will held at Perry Hill Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Perry Hill Methodist Church in Montgomery. Flowers are also an honored gift.
