Ida Lou Helms, age 90, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1930 to Ollie C. & Marie Phillips Helms. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She retired after over 40 years of service to the Alabama Highway Department.
Ida Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ray Helms (Jean), and a sister, Irene Morgan (Lock). Survivors include her beloved daughter, Cheryl Carroll; grandchildren whom she adored, Alecia Berlin (Jake), Trey Carroll; great grandson, Joby Berlin; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Leak Memory Chapel with visitation on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 5:30-7:00pm. Burial will follow the chapel service at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dawson Locklier, Brantly Coston, Hunter Coston, Jimmy Coston, Johnny Stinson, and Chad Stinson. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Answered Prayer and Baptist Hospice for their help and support.
