Jacqueline Lou Dozier Thackston, remembered fondly by many as Jackie, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born January 26, 1932 in Montgomery, AL and lived in Montgomery until the last two months. She worked in her younger age at New York Life. When she married C.T. Thackston, she worked with him at C.T. Thackston Sand and Gravel. Jackie was known for baking delicious and beautiful wedding, birthday and all occasion cakes.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Velma Dozier; her husband of 50 years, C. T. Thackston; her sister, Belva Owen, and her nephew, James Thackston, who she raised as her son.
Jackie is survived by her children, Tate (Lee) Thackston and Galen (Kelley) Thackston; her brother, Floyd Jr. (Sue) Dozier; her niece Sheree, very special and loving nieces, Karon (Birch) Bowdre and Teresa (Jeff) Thompson; her grandchildren, Merideth (Seth) Maggard, Joseph Vick, Brian Thackston, Patrick (Grace) Thackston, Jack Thackston, Ben (Sarah Grace) Thackston; her great grandchildren, Gabriel Maggard, McKenzie Grace Maggard, Walter Maggard; as well as several other nieces, nephews and friends.
Pall bearers will be Patrick Thackston, Jack Thackston, Ben Thackston, Joseph Vick, Trent Thompson, Beau Bowdre and Barrett Bowdre.
A Family and Friends Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, on September 12, 2026, at 10:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life Graveside Service at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am.
