TECH SARGEANT RET; James D. Adams, age 86, son of Ina and Dupont Adams, died Thursday, November 1, at his home. He was predeceased by his brother, Harry Neal Adams killed in WWII, and a sister, Maxine Bartlett (R.J.) In addition to his wife, Anne Sykes Adams, Mr. Adams leaves 4 dughters, Nancy Paulette Carver (Harry), of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Judy Carol Cooley (Gary) of Apoka, Florida; Brenda Kay Fort (Gary) of Chino Hills California and Theresa Marie Hubbard (Mike) of Mareno Valley California as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several cousins and nephews. He also leaves close friends, Joyce Adams (wife of deceased closest relative Max Adams), Jim and Mary Ann Milton of Cumming, Georgia; Bette and George Conklin of Boaz, Alabama and Clark Walker. Mr. Adams served admirably in the Merchant Marines, U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force from which he retired, earning a number of medals including the Purple Heart being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 1:00 until 2:00, with a private family interment at Memorial Cemetery.
