peacefully at his home on April 9, 2022 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by the
love of his life Roberta B. Henderson, his Parents George and Emerald Henderson, his Sister
Betty Money and a Granddaughter Julia Allison Henderson. He is survived by his children,
Nancy Freeman, Mike (Marcia) Henderson, Becky (Anthony) Jones and his canine companion,
Charlie. Jimmy was born in Montgomery, Alabama. October 13, 1939. He graduated from
Robert E. Lee High School. From there he began his career owning a gas station (Standard Oil)
and Wrecker business. He was successful in his business adventures with his wife by his side. He
then grew his business and opened Henderson Peterbilt in Montgomery, Alabama. Then later
on to open another Peterbilt dealership in Birmingham, Alabama. Where he and Roberta along
with his children worked together for many years.
He and Roberta loved to travel in their Motorhome. He always talked about chasing the sun
across Texas. They retired in 1997 and continued to enjoy many more years of traveling across
the United States.
He is survived by his brothers, Bobby, Eddy and Dean Henderson, Nieces and Nephews,
11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
He was a very wise man in business and life. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A special thanks to Visiting Angels (Devon Payne-Dede) for caring for our father in his final
months.
A celebration of being reunited with his love will be Thursday April 14, 2022 at Leak Memory
Chapel in Montgomery, AL. Visitation at 10:00 and service at 11:00 with Gary Burton of Pintlala
Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
