James J. (Jim) Licari, a longtime resident of Montgomery, passed away on March 29, 2018. Born in the Bronx, New York City on March 8, 1929 to Salvatore and Concettina (Simonetti) Licari, Jim was a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and served in the U. S. Navy until 1953. Employed by the Kellogg Cereal Company in Birmingham, Jim was promoted to District Sales Manager and moved with his family to Montgomery. He later joined the Allen N. Smith Company and remained in the food brokerage business until his retirement. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, the Parish Council of St. Bede’s parish and the PTA of St. Bede’s school.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Josephine Antonio Licari and infant grandson, John Michael Chambless.
He is survived by his children; Adrienne Brendle(Cecil), James Licari(Shannon), Sharon Chambless(John) and Joanie Alfano(Joe); his grandchildren; Amanda B. Froelicher(Christopher), David Brendle, Karen Licari, Laura Kathryn, Jordan and Maisey Chambless, Leigh Anne and Joseph Alfano and Jim's companion, Debbie Meadors.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of St. Bede the Venerable on Monday, April 2, 2018. Visitation will be in the Parish Hall beginning at 9:30 a.m., recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 and funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the Mass at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
