NORMAN, James “Jim” Winford, 91, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Mr. Norman was born March 4, 1927, in Ramer, where he remained as a lifelong resident. Mr. Norman served his country during the Korean War from 1952-54, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corp; he held an MO in both surgical & technical specialties. He was the only member to hold both in his group. Mr. Norman retired from the City of Montgomery Fire Department as a Lt., where he served from 1955 to 1981. He also retired from the Montgomery County Engineering Department after 10 years of service. He was a member of Sampey Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Mr. Norman was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Macon Norman; his parents, James H. & Sallie Norman; five brothers; & five sisters. Survivors include three children, James W. Norman, Jr. of Ramer, David E. Norman (Heidi) of Ramer, & Diane N. Van Sandt (Tommy) of Killen, AL; three granddaughters, Brandi Kolmetz (Wayne) of Chipley, FL, Heather Bowen (Jason) of Honarville, AL, & Rachel Hamm (Clay) of Shellhorn, AL; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11 am, at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by his Funeral Service at 12 Noon, with Brother Robert McMicken officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Montgomery Fire Department. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Sampey Memorial Baptist Church.
