Jane Claire Laseter passed from this earth on June 12, 2025 after a long battle with COPD. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on April 21, 1953 at St. Margaret’s Hospital. She was proceeded in death by her parents Dorothea and Edward Laseter. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah, and a host of close friends. Jane did her undergraduate work at Auburn University and later was awarded her Doctor of Audiology degree from Pennsylvania College. Jane worked for the State of Alabama and through the years tested the hearing of thousands of children as well as adults. If she asked you a question, and you answered “what” or “huh,” the next thing you knew she had you in her office checking your hearing. She was dedicated to her audiology work.
Much to her disdain, she spent the last several months of her life homebound. We would like to give special thanks to Carla and Mae who kept her fed and cared for. There is no telling how many episodes of Andy Griffith and 9-1-1 they watched with her; never complaining even when they knew they had seen that episode five or six times already. Baptist Hospice also must be thanked for their loving care for Jane the last few months.
For those of you who know Jane well, you will be happy to know that for lunch of June 10th she enjoyed her small cheeseburger (hold the mayo) from her favorite restaurant, Hamburger King, a serving of peach dump cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Jane’s memorial service will be held at White Chapel on Friday, June 20, 2025. Visitation will be at 11:00 followed by the service at 11:30 officiated by Jeff Helms from the Vaughn Park Church of Christ.
