She attended Sidney Lanier High School and graduated from Randolph Macon Women’s College, where she was President of Kappa Delta sorority. She wed Forrest in 1953, and they shared a wonderful life for 64 years blessed with children and grandchildren who lovingly called her “Grandmama Jane.” Whether it was welcoming a houseful of neighborhood children, enduring game after game of Candyland and Old Maid, baking numerous brownies and rice krispy treats, sewing endless dresses for her girls on her ancient machine, or being a room mother again and again, Jane loved being a mother and created a lifetime of special memories for her family. For her entire life, her beloved Episcopal Church of the Ascension was her second home where she served on the Altar Guild and volunteered tirelessly in church activities. Jane was an active member of a number of community, social and philanthropic organizations and loved to spend time reading an infinite number of books, sewing beautiful clothes, gardening, and playing bridge with her friends twice a week.
