

Janice C Hartley, age 77, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022. Janice was born December 27, 1944 to Harris Milligan Broadway and Nell Dennis Broadway. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Johnny Steve Hartley.
She is survived by a daughter and a son, Tammy Hartley (Henry) White and Johnny Steve (Selena) Hartley, Jr.; five grandchildren, Alan Hartley Polson, Austin Michael Polson, Aaron Joshua Polson, Blake Logan White and John Ross Hartley; six great grandchildren, Sloan Polson, Landry Polson, Adelaide Polson, Declan Polson, Millie Polson and Theo Polson; her brother and sisters, James Broadway, Ruby Sexton, Brenda Wright, Joanne Stauch, Gladys Jerrell, and Ouida Petty. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A people person, Janice always greeted with her smile. Deeply rooted in her faith, she delighted in encouraging the college students her job brought into her life. As a military wife, she managed to maintain a household and the friendships with families from the overseas assignments. She will be remembered as a great cook whose kitchen could turn out German dishes as well as southern classics. The impact of her warmth and gracious kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
A family and friends visitation for Janice will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude with a graveside at Greenwood Cemetery.
