Born in Montgomery, Alabama, on January 1, 1935, to Julius and Lessie Kirk, Jean worked for AT&T for ten years. She would later volunteer for many years as a Pink Lady at Baptist Hospital, as well as serving on the Boards of the Salvation Army and the Davis Theater Inception.
She married Horace O. Davis on March 23, 1968, and they enjoyed many wonderful years together in Montgomery.
Jean loved volunteering, needle pointing, reading, watching the Atlanta Braves with her beloved sister, Pearl, and anything related to the University of Alabama, especially football season. Most importantly, she was wholly devoted to her family, caring for them to the very end.
Leaving to cherish her memory is her sister, Pearl Kirk (Thomas) Herring, and her brothers, Julius “Sonny” (Susie) Kirk and Edgar “Eddie” (Sue) Kirk as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many treasured friends.
She is joined in heaven by her beloved husband, Horace O. Davis, as well as her sisters, Mary Francis Garcia and Julianne Carroll and her brothers, Curry “Sam” Kirk, Calvin Kirk, and Rufus Kirk, and their parents, Julius and Lessie Kirk.
She will be remembered for her style, her wonderful sense of humor, her delightful companionship, and most of all, for her loving and generous spirit.
Serving as pallbearers: Todd Kirk, Jonathan Bowman, Michael Kirk, David Crawford, Courtney Herring, and Bryan Matthews.
