

On the 27th day of May, 2023 , Iva Jean Stringer Kyle passed away and is now in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Jean was born on June 10, 1937, to Bamer and Homer Stringer in Raleigh, Mississippi. After graduating from Taylorsville High School, Jean began working as a secretary at a hospital in Hattiesburg, where she met her future husband, Jerry.
Jerry and Jean both enjoyed long, successful careers with the VA Health System. After retiring from her position as Chief of Office Operations at the Montgomery, AL VA Medical Center, Jean's life was full of activities with her Family and friends. She made many life-long friends as a member of the Montgomery Alabama chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 30 years. Jean was also active in the Montgomery Chapter of the Scattered Seeds Garden Club as well as Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Jerry Kyle, who passed away on December 28, 2013 after 55 years of marriage; her parents Bamer and Homer Stringer; and siblings Olyer Stringer, Burlon Stringer, Lorene Windham, Charlotte Pullin, Homer Lee Stringer, William Stringer, Wylie Stringer, Grover Stringer, and Shelly Stringer.
Jean, the epitome of Southern Charm, leaves behind many loved ones who will forever cherish her memory and will never forget her kind and loving heart.
Jean has one surviving brother, Tommy Stringer of Denham Springs, Louisiana. Jean is also survived by her children, Jeff (Beth) Kyle of Prattville, Janice (Isaac) Schofield of Deatsville, Joyce (Mark) Fields of Tuscaloosa, and Veronica (Charles) Mims of Greenville, South Carolina.
Jean’s Grandchildren all adored their Maw Maw: Brandi Qualls, Kristina Qualls, Amanda (Aaron) Arthur, Alyssa (Johnathan) Hooper, Amy (Arthur) Gould, Jaime (Neal) Dickinson, Krissy (Aaron) Kline, Sage Robertson, and Zinnia Robertson. Jean was also blessed with 14 Great-Grandchildren: Hanna Qualls, Kinzlee Qualls , Jorja Qualls, Cloe Roy, Daniel Roy, Evan Roy, Farralyn Roy, Alice Jean Arthur, Abigail Arthur, Journey Hooper, Ridley Dickinson, Anna Gould, Alex Gould, and Arthur Gould.
A family and friends visitation for Iva Jean will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. Following the family and friends visitation will be a celebration of life graveside service at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
