

J. Royce McKissick, a life-long resident of Montgomery, Alabama, and 1969 graduate of Troy University, died on March 29, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Frazer UMC on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. with visitation held prior to the service beginning at noon in the Parlor at Frazer UMC.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Velma McKissick; special aunts and uncles; and a mother-in-law he loved, Dora Makin.
Royce is survived by his beloved wife, Shelia McKissick who he has been sharing life with for 50 years. He has a daughter, Macy McKissick Schultz (Michael); son Jaret McKissick; and two grandsons, Mills and Mack Schultz. Royce also had a family that was very dear to him. He is loved and survived by his brother, Ellie McKissick; sisters, Joyce (Louis) Priester and Judy (Perry) Hooper and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Royce led a full and fruitful life having a passion for outdoors, a love for Jesus and the Bible, and deep love for his family. He loved to laugh and make people smile. His wife, son, daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons were the light of his life.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided by neighbors, family, and USA Mitchell Cancer Institute over the past 5 months. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest that donations be made to Young Life Mobile, 7171 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36695.
