Jerry Dennis Finlayson passed away on January 3, 2019 at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh K. Finlayson; his mother, Jeanette Finlayson Dunn; and his mother-in-law, Juanita W. Hughes. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marianne; his son, William (Jana) Finlayson; his sister, Judy (Billy) Shaw; his brothers, Larry (Debbie) Finlayson, Morgan Finlayson; his father-in-law, Edward M. Hughes; his sister-in-law, Lynn (Marvin) Ratley; his brother-in-law, Marty (Jo) Hughes; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his faithful yellow dog named Saban.
Jerry was a very talented athlete in most every sport, especially baseball and golf. He dearly loved his family and his passions, golf and Alabama football. He was a hard worker who provided for his family. He worked with his hands, and could fix almost anything, and remodeled rooms in his house even recently, after he became ill.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Leak Memory Chapel at 1:00pm with a Memorial Service at 2:00pm with Rev. David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Dykes, Billy Ross, Michael Foley, Lane Free, Cade Free, and Trey Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be the entire 1968 Bullock County State Champion “Babe Ruth” All Star Team.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Pam, Isabeth, LaDonna, and Tracey from Baptist Hospice for their kindness and excellent care.
