Jerry Robert Huey

Jerry was born in Douglasville, Georgia, on June 18, 1939, to the late William Robert and Myrtle

Lucille Walton Huey. He married his wife of almost 60 years, Carolyn Neave Huey on June 17,

1962.

Jerry served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. He retired from Delta Airlines

after working with them for 35 years. He had a passion for airplanes and everything about

aviation. He also had a love for automobiles, and he attended races at Daytona Beach and

Road Atlanta. He loved camping, and his family cherishes many memories they made camping

in the mountains of Tennessee. His beloved dog, Jasmine, a black lab mix, was a faithful

companion and best friend.

Jerry was quick to strike up a conversation with a stranger and had a good sense of humor. In

recent years, he spent a lot of time watching some of his favorite shows, such as Andy Griffith

and The Gaither Gospel Hour, while he cuddled up with his cat, Boots.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carolyn Huey Ramsey (Ralph) and

Norma Jean Huey Hewitt (Richard).

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and three children: Elizabeth Lynn Huey Hutchins (Bryan),

Sharon Jean Huey Wilbanks (Chad) and Philip Garrett Huey (Karen). Also surviving are

grandchildren: Robert Hutchins (Christian), Brett, and Garrett Hutchins, Amanda Wilbanks Hebb

(Damon), Olivia Wilbanks, and Emily, Anna Grace, and Elizabeth Huey.

The family will have a private graveside ceremony on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm cst / 2:00 pm est at Douglasville City Cemetery in Douglasville, Georgia.

Memorials may be given to the Montgomery Humane Society at 1150 John Overton Drive

Montgomery, AL 36110, the Salvation Army at 900 Maxwell Blvd, Montgomery, AL 36104, or the charity of your choice.
