Mrs. Jessie Mae Godwin, 102, who resided in Montgomery, Al., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at her residence. She is preceded by her parents; Emmitt and Etta Murphy and her son, Donald Godwin. She is survived by her children; Dudley L. Godwin (Norma), Nelson W. Godwin (Doris), Annie R. Smith and Janice G. McKenzie. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Jessie Godwin was one of the most beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived her life with Jesus in her heart and a fry pan and knitting needle in each hand. She has never met anyone that didn't love her, and we all called her granny. We always joked she was going to out live all of us and she almost did. May the Angels invite her in to sing in their choir. She is going to be greatly missed, we have definitely lost one of our earthly angels. She loved old Gospel music. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Stephen Nulph will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, Montgomery, AL.
