

Jim Frank Bryant, age 92, a resident of Prattville, Alabama, died on September 11, 2025. Jim was born on August 23, 1933, in rural Dale County to Will and Lola Bryant. Jim attended schools in Geneva and Houston counties and graduated from Cottonwood High School in Cottonwood, Alabama. At the age of 19 Jim was drafted into the U.S. Amy in 1953 and discharged in 1955 as a Military Policeman. He was assigned to the 142ⁿᵈ MP Company at Ft. Brooke, Puerto Rico. He worked for the Montgomery Police Department from 1955 to 1959. In 1959, he became an Alabama State Trooper and retired after 30 years of service in 1989 as a sergeant. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Virginia Guy, and they were married for 58 years. Jim attended the FBI Academy in 1976 and then Troy State University in 1978. Jim was an active member of First Baptist Church, Prattville, Alabama.
Jim was the last surviving member of his family and predeceased by his mother and father, Will and Lola Bryant, his sister, Joy Yeomans, his five brothers, Max, Rex, Bob, Don, and Ted. His wife Virginia, passed away in November 2016.
Jim is survived by his daughter Barbara Pierce (Norman), Alex City, two sons, Keith (Rachel), Tuscaloosa, and David (Ashley), Oxford, Georgia. Eight grandchildren Nicole Pierce, Alec Pierce (Desiree), Will and Charlie Bryant, Aaron Bryant, Alice Bryant, Lindley Bryant, and Sydney Bryant. Three great grandchildren Emilia Pierce, Henry Pierce, and Harrison Pierce.
Jim was a member of Oak Park Masonic Lodge, Montgomery, Scottish Rite, the Alcazar Shrine Temple, and the Prattville Lions Club.
Services conducted by Dr. Travis Coleman at White Chapel - Greenwood Funeral Home Montgomery and burial at Alabama Heritage cemetery. Please make memorial gifts to First Baptist Church, Prattville.
