Johnny and I were active Juvenile Court Judges seeking support for the Juvenile System of Alabama..Johnny led and I followed.  He was a brilliant and very respected judge.  He authored many progressive pieces of legislation for our youth courts in Alabama.  Johnny will be missed.

Johnny was a friend to every member of my family for our entire lives. The Davis family lived across the street from ours as children and until we all grew up. Johnny visited my mother nearly every weekend after my father died in 2001, up until her death in 2011. He performed my wedding ceremony to Billy Hutchinson in 2009 in my parents' Montgomery home. He was special to me in so many ways. I'm very sad he is gone, but so happy he is no longer in pain. His sister, Carolyn, told him he was "valiant", the perfect word to describe his attitude during his battle with cancer over the last 3 years. He was funny. He was smart. He was loving. He was kind. I'm proud to say he was my friend.

Judge Davis was one of the finest, and most decent, people I have ever known. Heaven is brighter and the earth a little darker with his passing.

A true friend and wonderful person. He will be missed by friends and community. So sorry we cannot make the trip from Atlanta but our hearts will be there.

So sorry to hear of Judge Davis' passing.  My father (Bob Donan) worked with him for many years in Family Court and always had the highest respect for him.  Praying God provides you with comfort at this time.

Judge Davis was an inspiration to us all at Cumberland School of Law.  A testament to the motto of the Alabama Bar "Lawyers render service".  We will miss him.  Anne Marovich
