DURHAM, John Davis Sr., a Montgomery resident, passed away peacefully on Friday December 28, 2018 at the age of 98. Mr. Durham was the proprietor of John D. Durham Watch and Jewelry Service located in the entrance of the Bell Building for more than 40 years. He was an admired, trusted, and accomplished craftsman. His greatest joy was the many conversations and friendships shared from behind his counter. Like many of the timepieces he repaired, his memory will be cherished.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy C. Durham, with whom he shared 64 years of a loving and faithful marriage.
He is survived by sons, John D. “Jack” Durham, Jr. (Jamie); Wendell E. Durham (Laurie); and daughter, Suanne Durham Parnell (Jeff); grandchildren, Davis Durham and Dillon Durham; Collin Parnell (April), and Jonathon Parnell (Kiernan); and great-grandchildren, Alexis Lucas, and Aiden, Alivia, and Annelyn Parnell.
His Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel, with a Celebration of Life following at 1:00p.m., led by Rev. Michael A. Cobb.
Memorials contributions may be made in his name to Baptist Hospice or the Montgomery Area Council on Aging (MACOA).
