He was preceded in death by his parents James Judkins Durr and Elia Garrett Durr, his first wife Patricia Collins Durr, and brother- in- law James Mahlon Buck, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Lois Beale Durr, sister Elia Durr Buck, and two children James Judkins Durr, II and Lucy Durr Berry. Step children Jeff Beale (Nancy), Sadler Beale McLemore (Tom), Nolton Beale (Kate), and Sista Varner (Rob). Grandchildren Sarah Collins Durr, Olivia Berry, Jade Currid, Mary Martha Walker (Garrett), Oliver McLemore (Pam), Whittington Black (Wesley), Alice Vosel (Stephen), Bibb Beale (Amy) ,Sadler Ward (Corbin), Rob Varner (Sara), Jeff Varner (Sarah), Will Varner (Mariana), Alice Varner, and had 21 great grandchildren.
John was an executive of Durr- Fillauer, Inc. He graduated from The University of Alabama where he was President of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was a corporal in the US Army.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Dale, Ron Wilkinson, Charles Jordan, George Jordan, Bob Burton, John Durr, Jimmy Buck, Billy Will Williamson, Charlie Gross, Eddie Adair, Lanny Crane and members of the Bloodworth~Strong Sunday School Class.
Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM with the Reverend Claude McRoberts officiating.
