John David (JD) Herring, 63, passed away November 26, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Geretha Budd, father, Gordon Ellis Herring; brother, Joe Ben Herring; grandson, Parker Thomas Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Smith Herring; son, John Rivers Herring (Tara); daughter, Brooke Taylor (Wayne); grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor, Addison Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Laney Nichols, Nolee Nichols; sisters, Rhonda Kelley (Steve) and Nancy Herring; niece, Lindsay June Herring.

JD was a vivacious and loving man. He had a very competitive spirit, which you knew if you met him on a billiard table. He was thrilled to be able to share his knowledge of the game and life with those interested in learning. When you met JD, more than likely he would know more of your family history than you did. He was blessed with an enormous memory and grand story telling abilities. He will be greatly missed, as he was greatly loved.

A visitation for John will be Sunday, December 1, 2109 at Leak Memory Chapel from 4-6 pm with a graveside service to take place Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2 pm at the River Falls Cemetery in River Falls, Al.

Praying for yall and family Mrs Betsy, Mr Rivers, and Mrs Brook I'm sorry to hear about JD he was a wonderful man. Yall have always been family to me and the rest of my family as well. Never was a dull moment around JD. He was always full of laughter and smiles. He could bring the best out of anyone and make there day just as bright as he was. Never forget the good ol days when he use to say BUTTER BEAN lol and the jokes and stories he use to tell us when we was just kids. He might not be present but he will always live in my heart. Him and daddy are probably rejoicing with one another. And alot more of the ol friends as well. We will see you again one day my good friend. Praying for yall to have comfort and peace and understanding in this trying time. I love yall and if theres anything I can do to help please let me know. Love yall and god bless

My prayers are with you all. John David was loved by my whole family. He was so thoughtful and sweet to check on my parents after Gayle passed away. We will see them again. Take comfort in knowing his battle is over. He and Gayle are with Jesus!

When i first started playing pool...he showed me what i was doing wrong...when i tried and didn't succeed...he laughed...he showed me again and again. He stayed with me laughed with me and when i did finally succeed...gave me hugs... a kiss on the cheek...and kept encouraging me. When he saw me in the poolhall..he would watch and make sure i done the shot correctly. He was always encouraging...smiling..and all round fun person to be around. You will always be in my heart and especially remembered as i continue to shoot pool. Rest in Peace dear sweet man.

I’m so very sorry about John David.
He will definitely be missed by anyone who knew him. He was my cousin and although we only met a couple times as adults, he was such a pleasure to know and I’ll always cherish the short time I spent with him both in person and by phone. My prayers are with y’all during these difficult times.
With Love and Peace,
Kara
