King, John G. Jr. SFC Ret., passed away November 28, 2018 at the age of 81. Born December 18, 1936 in Newport News, Va. to CPO John G. King, Sr. and Eugenia Cason King. He is survived by his wife, Linda Pilgrim King, son Scott H. King (Vickie), granddaughters Jordan M. King and Weldon M. King, brother Marvin C. King (Debbie), and nephew William D. King (Vanessa).
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Ernest D. King & William A. King and nephew James A. King.
After 20 years of service, John retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 and later the Alabama Department of Conservation as Chief Auditor. He was a member of The Old South Historical Society, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and an avid bowler.
In late 1941, he at the age of six, his mother, and little brother Marvin, joined his military father, stationed at Kaneohe Navy Air Base in Hawaii. On the morning of December 7th, the young boys were standing on the balcony of their quarters watching incoming enemy planes attack Pearl Harbor. Both boys were mesmerized by the sight of incoming airplanes not knowing America was being attacked. Throughout his life he never forgot the vivid details of that day.
