John Thomas Stallings Sr.

John graduated from Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He received his commission in the Marine Corps, serving for three years in Virginia and North Carolina. He managed the family business, Rush Stallings, Inc., before spending 25 years with Litton-von Gal Palletizers, where he held positions in engineering, sales, and administration. After retiring from Litton, he worked in various areas of real estate for 12 years.

He was President of Montgomery’s Lions Club and served as Chair and Treasurer of the Lions Charity Foundation. An active church member, he served as a member of First United Methodist’s Administrative Board and later as a Deacon at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Time with family was a priority for John, particularly at Lake Martin and Florida’s Gulf Coast. He was a loyal friend and regularly had lunch with friends he grew up with and former colleagues.

John is survived by Joy Paterson Stallings, his wife of 65 years; daughter Lynn Stallings; son John Thomas Stallings, Jr. (Angie Godwin Stallings); grandsons John Thomas Stallings, III (Sarah Kathryn Portis Stallings) and Wesley Edward Stallings; and great-grandchildren John Thomas Stallings, IV and Amelia Gray Stallings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Elizabeth Shell Stallings and Daniel Rush Stallings, Sr.; sister Nancy Elizabeth Stallings Elliott; and brother Daniel Rush Stallings, Jr.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1728 South Hull Street, Montgomery, 36104. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.

John will be remembered for his deep faith, unwavering integrity, and remarkable ability to fix almost anything. He cherished time with family, valued lifelong friendships, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Through his service to his church, community, and family, he leaves a legacy of kindness, humility, and devotion that all who knew him will remember.
