SUGGS, J. Burnice, 81, a longtime resident of Ramer, Alabama died peacefully at his home on October 30, 2026, after an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandy Suggs who he adored, cherished and have mourned since her death in 2020; and his parents, Hugh and Virginia Suggs. He is survived by his faithful son, Mike Harrell (Melinda), grandson, Justin Harrell, stepchildren, Stan Stoner (Carey), Janice Hudkins, Jason Furr (Katie), his sister, Renee’ Dodson (Lee), and special friends who cared for his every need, Andrea Shepherd and MacKenzie Mercado. He was a member of Pentecostal Life Church. Burnice was a loving husband and member of the church who would always embrace the ladies with a big hug whether they wanted it or not…to the point that he was known as “Brother Hugs”. Burnice was a larger-than-life figure who if you met him, you couldn’t forget him, his unique style and presence were undeniable. He was unable of telling a lie even when a lie would have served him better, and if he thought it, he said it. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him, but they are also overjoyed that he is now reunited with his wife, Sandy and his gracious loving Savior, Jesus Christ. A visitation will be held, Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Leak Memory Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 with Graveside at 11:00 at Memorial Heights Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Larry McEndarfer.
