Joseph Graham Sanford Sr.

Joseph Graham Sanford was born in El Paso, TX on May 17, 1934, and died February 1, 2026, at the age of 91. He is preceded in death by his wife Marcia Powell Sanford, his parents Mary Owen Murfee and Robert Lee Sanford Sr. of Prattville, Alabama, and his sisters Louise Sanford Butner and Mary McQueen Sanford Whatley.

Graham is survived by his children John Douglas Sanford, Mary Owen McLemore, Joseph Graham Sanford Jr., and James (Jim) Harvey Lewis IV, his stepson; and brothers Robert Lee Sanford Jr. and James Hopson Sanford (Dot); sister-in-law Catherine Powell Hanks and brother-in-law Frank Douglas Powell III; grandchildren Jackson Thompson Sanford, Tristan Cade Dunlap, Reid Owen Sanford and Graham McQueen Sanford; and several nieces and nephews.

Graham's family returned to The Home Place Farm in Prattville in 1948. He graduated from Autauga County High School and Alabama Polytechnic Institute at Auburn and worked for First National Bank of Montgomery, ISD/DSMD of the State of Alabama. He was a member of Christchurch Anglican.

A funeral celebrating his life and commending him to the Lord will be held at Christchurch Anglican at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with a family graveside service to follow.
