He was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Blake Thomas. He is survived by his father, Joseph Reynolds Thomas, Sr., Miligrosa (Mila) S. Thomas, and their son, Mason Blake Thomas; his sisters, Sheila Thomas Edmondson (Charles) and Tammy Thomas Baqir (Russell); his niece, Joanna Edmondson Riggins (John); and his nephews, Wyatt Edmondson, Thomas Cone, and Joey Cone.
Joey had a very successful career alongside his father working in the piano repair and refinishing business, Thomas Piano Service. He adored his son, Mason, with all his heart, and was a devoted and loving son, brother, partner, uncle, and friend. Anyone who met Joey was immediately struck by his sincere kindness and gentle spirit. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, Alabama on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 AM.
