Joyce Holley Young

Joyce Holley Young, age 84, of Snowdoun, Ala., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Lucious Walters Young, parents, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her two sons, Walt Young Jr. (Laura) and Rick Young (Debbie); brother, Powell Holley (Betty); sister, Maurine Kelley; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Snider (Seth), Amber Tripi (Aaron), Darryl Young, Holley Young and Trista Waters (Steve); three great-grandchildren, Finley Joyce Snider, Harper Grace Tripi and Madison Olivia Waters; longtime friends, Joe and Alice Treadwell; and loving caregiver, Louise Mathews. Service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, Ala., with Pastor Brad Zimanek officiating. Visitation will be from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Snowdoun, Ala., following the service. Pallbearers will be Darryl Young, Seth Snider, Aaron Tripi, Steve Waters, Alan Young and Paten Powell. Joyce was born February 27, 1931. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Snowdoun United Methodist Church and the Snowdoun Women’s Club. Her kindness, generosity and southern cooking will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Snowdoun United Methodist Church.
