Juanita West Ausbon of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on May 8, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Ben Allen West and Gloriax Waldrop West, her sister Wanda West Ross, and her husband of 38 years, Robert Eugene Ausbon. She is survived by her children Andrea Blair Ausbon and Robert Brooks Ausbon, and many extended family members and friends. Nita was born in 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Shades Valley High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Auburn University in 1969. She taught school until the birth of her children. She later earned a Masters in Counseling from Auburn University Montgomery, and worked for many years as a counselor and then clinical director at the Chemical Addictions Program in Montgomery, where she helped countless individuals in their recovery. Nita was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over thirty years, where she led numerous grief groups and volunteered in the congregational care ministry. Her hobbies included painting and gardening, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:30 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, followed immediately by her Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 PM, also at Aldersgate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Two by Two Rescue in Helena, AL or a charity of your choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Ausbon family.
