Judy was a very dear friend of my parents, and we were all in Germany together as she and my father both worked there, she in the civil service, and he as a USAF OSI agent. Judy held the very rare position of being trusted by my over protective parents to babysit me occasionally. To this day, I still call those butter  cookies that have a scalloped edges, and a hole in the middle, "Judy cookies". She always had them for me when I would visit her. If my parents were absent, she would allow me to put them on my fingers and pretend they were rings, not some thing my very strict parents allowed me to do at home.. I know both my mother and father, Andy and Doris Anderer, loved and respected Judy, and enjoyed her friendship and companionship. I especially remember her joyful personality,, infectious laugh and bright smile. She was a gift to our entire family! Had I realized "Darby"was part of Judy's name at the time I had my children 35–40 years ago, one of them very well might've had Derby as part of their name! Rest in peace, darling Judy.

Judy and my mother, Doris Lindsey Anderer, worked together and formed a fast friendship when they were young women. They, and Judy‘s cousin, Liz, remained great friends until my mother’s death in 1998. My earliest childhood memories include Judy! As older parents of an only child, my parents were both strict and overprotective. Judy was the one person sometimes entrusted  with my care. I remember her laugh and her delightful personality. To this day, I call those little round butter cookies with a hole in the center and scalloped edges, “Judy cookies, “ because she always had them for me when I would visit, and she allowed me to put them on my fingers and pretend they were rings… something my strict parents never would’ve  allowed! When my dad’s Air Force career took us to Germany, Judy’s civil service career took her there around the same time. I remember many family outings and  trips with her, and again, that spectacular laugh and brilliant smile!

Never having lived close to any aunts, uncles, or other relatives, Judy WAS family to me, and to my parents. She was loved, lovable, and loved others fiercely. I’m grateful to her for her  cherished friendship with my parents, and the love she showered on me! 

I’m so grateful  my husband, Kevin Kilgore, and I  were able to stop by and visit her on our last trip to Montgomery around 2010! Although she had aged, and was somewhat frail, she was still “my“Judy,
