Jule Wilson Willis Perry, of Montgomery, AL passed away on January 6, 2019 at the age of 101. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and went on to receive a Bachelors of Arts from George Washington University in Washington DC and a Masters of Social Work from H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in New Orleans, LA. Jule was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, The Junior League of Montgomery, and the 20th Century Club, among others. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church. Jule loved painting, playing bridge, and was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. She was preceded in death by husbands, Dr. Charles Alfred Willis and Dr. Joseph Whitaker Perry; parents, Julian Anderson Wilson and Ethel Crawford Wilson; sisters, Effie Stewart and Frances Aycock; and Joe’s son, Joseph Perry, Jr. Jule is survived by her daughter, Carol Ballard (Bowen) of Montgomery; Joe’s children, Laura Griffith (Vann) and Patricia Hoover of Birmingham, and Ben Perry (Nancy) of Sewanee, TN; seven grandchildren, Julie Speaks (Steven) of Montgomery, Laura Pace-Schulz (Darren) of Bismarck, ND, Gene Ballard of Niceville, FL, Bowen Ballard (Ginny) of Destin, FL, Carolyn Armstrong (Ben) of New Orleans, LA, Joe Grasse of Nashville, TN, Kathleen Griffith of Spruce Pine, NC; and twelve great-grandchildren, William, Charles, and Thomas Speaks of Montgomery, Warren Schulz of Bismarck, Misty, Cruise, and Navy Ballard of Niceville, Kathryn, Eleanor, and Emma Ballard of Destin, and Olivia and Campbell Armstrong of New Orleans. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00am, led by Dr. Karl Stegall and Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 2416 W. Cloverdale Park Montgomery, AL 36106 or Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 241661, Montgomery, AL 36124. The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff at Oak Grove Inn, the staff and sitters of Answered Prayers, Comfort Care Hospice, and Dr. William D. Smith, her longtime physician.
