He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen V. Rambo; his mother, Gladys Rambo; and his brothers, Robert, Richard, Earnest, William, and Marvin.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Rambo and Christopher Rambo; his grandchildren, Bradley and his wife Khodi, Justin and his wife Sparkle; and his great-grandsons, Jackson, Jayson, and Nixon.
Lamar was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on June 26, 1941. He proudly served his country for more than 20 years in the United States Army, including service during the Vietnam War. His military career took him around the world, with assignments in Korea, Europe, and the Middle East.
Throughout his life, Lamar worked hard to provide for himself and his family, often taking on second jobs that led to unique experiences, including serving as a security guard for the rock band KISS and working as a limousine driver for celebrities such as Patrick Swayze. He enjoyed going to country music concerts and the occasional vacation to the beach or Graceland.
After retiring from both his military career and civilian work, Lamar found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending an afternoon cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Those who knew Lamar often appreciated his sense of humor and the stories he could tell. His life was one of service, hard work, memorable adventures, and stories that those who knew him will long remember.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service held on Saturday, August 1 at 11:00AM at White Chapel-Greenwood located at 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, AL 36109. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
