LaNola Mellert, 82, passed away on January 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father, George Wilson Bragg and her mother, Swanye Kelley Bragg; her best four legged friend, Maddux. She is survived by her daughters, Tuesday Kelley Mellert Bigelow (Brett), Kristie Karl Mellert Frerich (John), Allison Kimberly Mellert Edwards Close (Brandon), Krystal Ann Mellert Benton; grandchildren, Kirstie Meighan Kelley Frego (Caleb) and Wilson Bryant Edwards.

Throughout her lifetime LaNola had various interests and hobbies. With perfect school attendance K-12th, she enjoyed various activities including: out running the cops, sneaking ciggies behind the school, bowling, working out before it was cool, and hitch hiking to Florida with her friends. Her hobbies eventually evolved into attending the local stock car races, Atlanta Braves, Alabama football, and President Trump! As a Southern Chef, her most requested dishes were Deviled Eggs and Cheese Grits, however, her biggest and bravest endeavor can be seen in the lives of her children. Above all else, LaNola was a mother. She was her girls’ biggest fan, greatest supporter, and fiercest protector. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

A visitation for LaNola will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Leak Memory Chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at First Southern Baptist Church, Hope Hull, AL at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. Girls I am so sorry to hear about LaNola's passing. I remember the first time I met her when I came to work for CAP-USAF. Needless to say she was "one of a kind". I know she cherished her girls more than anything. She was so proud of all of you. I know your hearts are broken but you have a lifetime of memories that can never be taken away. Again, my deepest sympathy to all of you.

Mom! Words can not come close to express how much I will miss you. If I could have just one more chance to hear your laugh and see your smile or hear you say Krystal Ann. The emptiness is so overwhelming. My thoughts are flooded with so many wonderful memories. You sacrificed so much of your wants and needs for us four girls so we could enjoy our own lives. You were always there for us and mom...I am so glad I was there for you on your last day on this earth. You are renewed now. Another beautiful angel in heaven. I will long for the day to feel you hold my hand and kiss my cheek and to hear Krystal Ann
I love you Mom
