Laura Belle Chambliss Jinright, born on July I, 1932 in Tallassee, Alabama died peacefully in her Montgomery home on August 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foch Jinright and her parents, John Roger Chambliss and Bernice McNeal Chambliss. Laura loved education, especially mathematics.
Having earned degrees from Huntingdon College, Auburn University, and AUM, she went on to teach school and work in school administration for 40 years-teaching in Atlanta, Georgia and Montgomery, Alabama. Upon completing her career, she remained a member of American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Alpha Delta Kappa, and other education organizations. She contributed to the Stegall Scholarship at First United Methodist Church where she was a member. She started a Math Education Scholarship at Auburn University in memory of her late husband. Her contributions to education were maintained throughout the years by her continuing to invest in former students.
Laura was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Tower Sunday School Class. She loved God and her church - serving through the Stephen Ministry and in many other capacities.
Supporting her in every way was her devoted husband, Foch. They enjoyed the arts, attending many plays and musical events. They also enjoyed traveling the world sharing their travel experiences with friends. They loved their family and friends. Together they led full and happy lives.
The funeral service will be at First United Methodist Church, Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2 PM with a visitation at 1 PM. Rev. Ben McDavid will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Montgomery Humane Society, Stegall Scholarship Fund at the First United Methodist Church or Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Alabama.
Her family wishes to send a special “thank you” to her caregivers, Earlene Archie and her daughter Carmen and her granddaughter, Brittni.
