Laurie S. Sanders

Anna Laurie Smilie Sanders, age 94, of Montgomery, died on October 14, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 1:00pm at Hills Chapel Cemetery on Long Road, off of AL 94, with the Rev. Lynn Smilie Nesbitt officiating. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, J. Julius Sanders; her parents; and her brothers, Lamar, Gilbert, Douglas, Richard, Wilbur and Raymond. She is survived by her brother, Loyd D. Smilie and his wife, Mary Emma; greatly loved nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many treasured friends. Laurie was born in south Montgomery County to Lester Smith Smilie and Wilmer May Smilie. She retired from the State of Alabama Department of Industrial Relations and was a devoted member of Taylor Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hills Chapel Cemetery Association, c/o Chris Berry, 15042 Meriwether Trail, Ramer, AL 36069.
