Lee Elton Thomas passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness on June 30, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1942, and was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Lee and Viola Faulk Thomas, as well as four brothers: Chalmer, Chappie, Elbert, and Elmer Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cheryle Taylor Thomas; two devoted daughters, Shannon (Micheal) Simon and Shelley (Ryan) Lynn; and five cherished grandchildren: Sophie and Asher Simon, and Stella, Parker, and Rhett Lynn, who affectionately called him “Pop-Pop.” He is also survived by two sisters, Vivian Norris and Eunice Millo, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Lee was a kind and gentle man, devoted to God and his family. His unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior was evident throughout his life. He found joy in old cars, football, and lending a helping hand to others. Lee dedicated 29 years of service to the Montgomery Water Works in the engineering department. His bright brown eyes and joyous smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 7th at Leak Memory Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Salem Church of Christ in Highland Home, Alabama.
