Evelyn Lee Scott Vinson was born to Paul and Evelyn Scott in Montgomery on April 15, 1956. After a brief battle with cancer, she went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Blake Vinson; and her precious niece, Hayden Borland.
Lee is survived by her loving spouse of almost 49 years, Mike Vinson; one daughter, Blakey Vinson; one son, Scott Vinson and his wife, Hope; two grandchildren, Sawyer and Mary Elizabeth Vinson; one brother Paul Scott and his wife Debby; sisters-in-law Barbara Vinson and Leigh Tarpos; nieces Ellen Herring, Michelle Vinson, Auburn Zizzo, Ashley Tarpos, Kathryn Brand, Victoria Edwards, and Vanessa Tarpos; and nephews, Bo Vinson, and Jeh Vinson. She also leaves behind great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
Lee was a devoted member of the Vaughn Park Church of Christ in Montgomery, Alabama. Her faith was unshakable, and she carried a quiet certainty that God had a purpose for her life through every season of it. She poured that faith into service, leading classes like Apples of Gold and Journey, helping with VBS, and serving in the church kitchen whenever she was needed. When the time came for her to leave this earth, she did so without fear, trusting that she was going home to heaven-to see the face of Jesus and to be reunited with the loved ones who had gone on before her.
Lee spent many years as an elementary school teacher, shaping young minds until her youngest child graduated high school. She then went on to serve many years as a bookkeeper at Adams Drugs and then became a primary influence on the growth and direction of the company over the past several decades.
Lee graduated from Alabama Christian Academy in 1974. She went on to attend David Lipscomb for a year before returning home to Montgomery, where she completed her degree at AUM.
Lee may be gone from this life, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. May we honor her memory by carrying forward the love and compassion she showed so freely.
