Dr. Leonard Michelson, DDS, a long time dentist and resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died at the age of 95 on December 11, 2018. Dr. Leonard "Lenny" Michelson practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Montgomery and served many patients and friends during that time. He studied at Auburn University and Emory School of Dentistry and initially practiced dentistry during his service in the US Army from 1946-1948 in Europe. Many, many years ago while practicing dentistry with long-time friend Dr. John Turner (deceased), Lenny also served as Secretary/Treasurer and then President of the Alabama Dental Association and received many accolades and awards from the Dental Association. He enjoyed serving in the association for years, interacting with his patients, and making patients smile. He and his wife of 66 years, Norma Michelson, who survives him, loved traveling to the beach and enjoying time with their grandchildren when they were young. They also enjoyed the many travels with friends to the various US cities for the Dental Association conferences. Lenny is also survived by his children, Marcia Michelson of NYC, NY and Bobby and wife, Anne Michelson, of Birmingham, AL; by his grandchildren Maggie and Joel Michelson; by a dear brother-in-law, Ralph Holzman of Birmingham, AL; and by several nieces and nephews and grands. He is preceded in death by daughter Bari Leigh Michelson Reed; by his parents, Ruth Silverblatt Stomaken and Max Michelson; and by his brother Harold Michelson. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the many caregivers who cared for him during the last 3 years of his life. He was a sociable person who was loved by many and who will be missed by many. Flowers can be sent to White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home where a visitation is scheduled for Thursday, 12/13 at 1:00.
