

Lewis Ferrell Ledbetter died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, after an extended illness at the age of 82 years. Lewis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Davis Ledbetter; son and daughter-in-law, Randall Ferrell and Lawana Ledbetter of Montgomery, Alabama; granddaughter, Lindsey Ferrell Ledbetter Gorman and her husband, Teddy Gorman; great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Gorman; great-grandson,Joseph Gorman, all of Charleston, South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Huel and Linda Ledbetter of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Lewis is preceded in death by his son, Bradford Mark Ledbetter; his mother and father, Whit and Grace Ledbetter; and a brother, Thomas(Tommy) Ledbetter.
Lewis was born on January 29, 1935 in (Elmore County)Tallassee, Alabama to Whit and Grace Ledbetter. Lewis graduated from Opelika High School in 1953. Lewis and Evelyn were married on July 7, 1957 at East Tallassee Baptist Church in Tallassee, Alabama. His military career began in high school with Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and continued for 44 years ending as a full time Civil Service employee with the Alabama Army National Guard.
He was an active and dedicated member of the Eastdale Baptist Church for 36 years. During these years, Lewis served in many different capacities.
A funeral is scheduled for Monday, September 11, 2017 at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama. The Funeral Service is at 1 pm with Visitation one hour prior to service. A private graveside burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Dr. Bruce Moulton, Pastor of Eastdale Baptist Church, will officiate the ceremony, and Reverend Tim Davis, nephew of Lewis Ledbetter, will also have a part in the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Lewis. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Eastdale Baptist Church P.O. Box 241423 Montgomery, AL 36117.
