Louis Norman Surles, a devoted father, public servant, and veteran, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 24, 1941, he lived a life marked by integrity, dedication, and quiet strength.
He proudly served his country as a member of both the Alabama Army National Guard and the Alabama Air National Guard. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he devoted over 35 years of his career to State of Alabama Medicaid Agency.
Louis had two children, Brad (Kimberly) Surles, Valparaiso, FL and Michael (Hayley) Surles, Montgomery, AL, and two grandchildren, Taylor Anne and Tanner Surles.
Louis was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lonnie and Grace Surles.
He will be remembered for his baseball prowess, work ethic, his love for his many pets over the years and his deep sense of duty. His legacy of service and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Graveside service will take place on Tuesday, 6 May 2025 at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, with visitation taking place at 1:00PM at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery, AL 36109.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Prattville Autauga Humane Society and/or Central Alabama Aging Consortium in his honor.
