

Marie Brantley Echols, 94, a Montgomery resident, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Marie was born May 29, 1924, in Pine Apple, Alabama, to Maude Byrd and Will Brantley. She was a graduate of Alabama College for Women, which is now Montevallo University. She was a social worker for Monroe County Department of Public Welfare and Home Service Secretary for the American Red Cross in Dallas County. She taught school in Mississippi, North Carolina, and Alabama. Her last teaching position was at Alabama Christian for seventeen years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 10 am, at Dalraida Church of Christ, followed by her Funeral Service at 11 am, with Ministers Doug Smith and Demar Elam officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Echols; her parents; sisters, Arthurene Brantley Ogden and Marlene Grissette; & brother, Blanche Brantley. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Turner; her son, Dr. Robert Echols (Carol); her sister, Judy Ingram; sister-in-law, Frances Brantley; four grandchildren, Dr. Jonathan Echols (Leslie), Blair Echols (Leigh Ann), Phillip Turner, and Kelly Webster (Tom); eight great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brady, and Chasen Webster, Alexis and Kassidy Turner, & Ethan, Nolin, and Addie Echols; one great-great-grandchild, Valerie Church.
