Mary Alice Nelson Daer, 98, of Pike Road, AL and formerly of Montgomery, AL answered the call of her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Angus Daer.
Born October 2, 1922, Mary Alice was the only child of Mattie Lee Clark Nelson and James Clarence Nelson. She graduated from Lanier High School and Huntingdon College. She met her husband, Jack, while he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base during WWII.
Mary Alice and Jack lived most of their married life in Montgomery where they were active members of Dexter Avenue UMC and later Frazer UMC. Mary Alice was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a committed, concerned and caring friend to so many.
She is survived by her daughters Kay Daer (Steve) Schwieger of Hixson, TN, Cecelia Daer (Jimmy) Terrell of Pike Road, AL; five grandchildren Shelley Walker (Allan) Nelson of Pike Road, AL, Sarah Schwieger (Eric) Parker Signal Mtn., TN, Julee Schwieger (Rob) Casey of Kingwood, TX, Matthew Terrell of Athens, GA and Mary Elizabeth Terrell of Pike Road, AL; and seven great grandchildren; Mattie, Will, Hannah, and Rachel Parker and Charlotte, Grayson, and Camden Casey.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice, Ann-Marie Harley, Lula Palmer and friend, Pam Scott, for their compassionate care.
Due to Covid considerations, a family only graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 1:30 pm in Greenwood Cemetery preceded by a family visitation at 1:00 pm in Leak Memory Chapel.
