Mary Olene Glenn was gathered home to glory on Friday, May 22, 2026 in the presence of her loving family following a brief illness. She was preceded by her husband of seventy years, James M. Glenn, sisters Nina, Dot, and Opal, and great-grandchild Joshua Major Glenn. She is survived by sister Ruth, four children: David Glenn (Liz), Michael Glenn (Linda), Marilyn Greer (Don), and Deborah Kicker (Tery), eight grandchildren: Becky Glenn, Jon David Glenn, Mary Greer, Caleb Greer, Heidi Glenn, Abbey Haisten, Ethan Kicker, and Matthew Kicker, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends, including Callie Woods, her dear caregiver.
Mary was born in Elmore County in 1933 to William Luther and Mary Jane Lamberth. She graduated from Montgomery Bible School (now Alabama Christian Academy) and soon married James Glenn in May, 1952, a marriage that would last seventy years and produce four children. An avid quilter, Mary was also known as a superb cook, especially for her signature pound cakes. She had an equally delicious sense of humor, and was a welcome presence in any gathering. She taught the ladies’ Bible class at church for many years, and attending worship services was a source of great joy to her. She loved reading her Bible and was constant in prayer.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 on Thursday, May 28, at Leak Memory Funeral Home in Montgomery, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 in the chapel celebrating her life, concluding at the graveside at 4:00 in Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens.
