Mary Elizabeth Hooks

Mary Elizabeth Hooks, born on June 15, 1928, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born in Mount Willing, Alabama, and later a resident of Montgomery, Alabama. Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, who she married in 1947, Oscar Lee Hooks Jr.; her parents, John Ellerson Favor Sr. and Mary Lucille Holladay; her daughter, Rhonda Blackmon; her brothers, John Ellerson Favor Jr., Bob Favor, James Favor, Bill Favor, and Reid Favor; and her sister, Maxine Middlebrooks. She is survived by her grandchildren, Joey Blackmon (Leigh Ann), Lee Blackmon (Tori), and Jason Blackmon; her great grandchildren, Blake Blackmon (Amanda), Hayden Blackmon (Bailee), Connor Blackmon, April Blackmon, Taylor Blackmon (Whitney), and Trent Blackmon (Kathie); along with five great-great grandchildren.

Mary was a member of Dalraida Baptist Church. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL, 36109, on January 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00 am.

Following the funeral service, a graveside service will take place at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama, 36109, on January 28, 2026.
