Mary Mallett passed away peacefully on March 25, 2011, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. She was 81 years old. A graveside service will be held on March 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Leak-Memory Chape one hour prior to the graveside.
Mrs. Mallett was a native of Leary, Georgia, in Calhoun County. Known affectionately by her college friends as “Junice”, she graduated from Mercer University in 1950, where she was president of her Chi Omega sorority chapter. She taught elementary school in Edison and Macon, Georgia, and in Montgomery. For twenty years, she worked side-by-side with her husband, helping him run Mallett’s Coliseum Pharmacy. She is predeased by her beloved husband, Robert Mallett. She is survived by her four children, Kim Mallett, Bob Mallett and his wife Amy, Kerri Mallett Lucido and her husband Vince, Carole Mallett Lechner, seven grandchildren, R.J., Matthew and David Mallett, Haley and Sydney Lucido, Erich Lechner and Sheena Hauser and two great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
