Matthew Doyle Jones was born on February 5, 1931, and lived an amazing 91 years. On June 11, 2022, Doyle was met at the gates of Heaven by his wife, Dorothy Ann Jones, his sister, Delores Maddox, and his grandson, Zach Harris. Family members who will miss him include his daughter, Deborah Nix, his brother, Don Jones, his grandson Josh Harris, and Delores’ family. Doyle was a veteran, an accountant for the State of Alabama, a member of First Baptist Church and a Gideon. Volunteering at the Caring Center at his church was something he loved to do, and he continued that into his late 80’s. Doyle’s family wants to extend a special thanks to all of the wonderful people who cared for him at Country Cottage. Although he only lived there five months, he was treated like family from day one. Everything they did for him will never be forgotten. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 17, at 10 am at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Caring Center or to Gideons’ International. Doyle’s struggles in life are behind him now, so everyone is invited by the family to wear bright and colorful clothes. We will celebrate together.
